American Academy of Ambulatory Care Nursing 39th Annual Conference
May 19-22, 2014 • New Orleans, LA

Pitman, NJ – The American Academy of Ambulatory Care Nursing (AAACN) will host its 39th Annual Conference at the Marriott New Orleans in New Orleans, LA, May 19-22, 2014. Attendees will enhance their practice with education specific to ambulatory care and telehealth nursing, and leave feeling enriched and energized; ready to share information and put strategies into practice.

The AAACN conference attracts a broad range of health care providers who work in ambulatory care settings, including military and telehealth. Attendees include RNs who are administrators, directors, managers, educators, care coordinators, consultants, researchers, and clinicians. This year, attendees can expect to expand their knowledge on the Patient-Centered Medical Home and learn new approaches to quality management. Leadership and telehealth tracks are also woven throughout the program.

Attendees will earn continuing nursing education (CNE) contact hours, view posters, visit the Exhibit Hall, and network with colleagues. Registration for the pre-conference Ambulatory Care Nursing Certification Review Course is also available.

Conference Highlights
Donna Wright, MS, RN, will give the conference Keynote Address, “Leadership and Resiliency,” where she’ll take a humorous look at what is needed to succeed in health care today and explore strategies and tools for better outcomes.

This year’s popular Town Hall, “Ambulatory Nursing Sensitive Indicators (NSI),” will be facilitated by the Chair of the Ambulatory NSI Task Force, Sharon Eck Birmingham, DNSc, MA, BSN, RN. Attendees are invited to contribute ideas or examples of NSI from their practice.

Program
Pre-conference workshops, the Ambulatory Care Nursing Certification Review Course and “Best Practices in Nursing: Self Care for Better Patient Care,” will be offered on Monday and Tuesday, May 19-20. There will also be a Tri-Service Military Pre-Conference Evening Forum and Networking session.

Sessions will run from Tuesday, May 20, to Thursday, May 22. Topics include:

  • Shared Savings: Accountable Care Organizations and Impact on Quality and Dollars
  • Rapidly Improving Pneumonia Care: Multi-Disciplinary Engagement in a Rapid Improvement Event
  • AAACN’s RN Residency Task Force: From Concept to Implementation
  • Huddle Up: Using Shared Decision-Making to Improve Outcomes

All pre-conference education sessions require separate fees and registration.

Special Events
On Tuesday, May 20, AAACN will host a session to welcome new members and first-time conference attendees. The session will be followed by the Opening Reception and Silent Auction. Money raised at the auction will benefit the AAACN Scholarship Program.

Online Library
Full conference attendees will enjoy the benefits of the AAACN Online Library. Presentation materials for education courses are posted in the Online Library before the conference for attendees to download. After the conference, the content of approved sessions will be available indefinitely at no charge for participants. In addition, registrants have the added benefit of being able to share their free Online Library content with two colleagues.

Continuing Education
Participants may earn up to 17.25 CNE contact hours during the conference (includes 3.0 contact hours for the pre-conference session).
