Welcome AAACN's New Nurse Scientist

We are happy to announce Margo Halm, PhD, RN, NEA-BC, as AAACN’s first AAACN Nurse Scientist. Dr. Halm is Associate Chief Nurse Executive, Nursing Research and Evidence-Based Practice (EBP) at the VA Portland Health Care System in Portland, Oregon. Her research has spanned issues related to patient-and-family-centered care, spirituality, integrative therapies, women and heart disease, family caregiving after heart surgery, nurse staffing and patient outcomes, and EBP.

In her new role, Dr. Halm will lead AAACN’s strategic efforts to enhance our current research infrastructure and grow the evidence that demonstrates the important role and value ambulatory care nursing provides in healthcare. She will oversee a new Research Committee, which will be responsible for providing new research tools to members, facilitate the EBP Awards program, initiate new research grant programs, and maintain professional networks to support and empower achievement of leadership and expertise of the ambulatory care nursing specialty across organizations and initiatives.
 
Dr. Halm is excited to serve in this new nurse scientist position to lead AAACN’s research efforts and help to shape care where life happens. We are excited to welcome her to AAACN.
